Airport Cyber Attacks increase

British Airways recently “disclosed a data breach impacting customer information from roughly 380,000 booking transactions made between August 21 and September 5 of this year. Magecart, a criminal hacking gang that has been active since 2015, known for web-based credit card skimming—who was also involved in the ticket master breach, have been linked to the intrusion.” – Source Wired

On September 16th it was reported that “Bristol Airport has blamed a cyber attack for causing flight display screens to fail for two days. An airport spokesman said the information screens were taken offline early on Friday to contain an attack similar to so-called “ransomware”.” –BBC
In both cases, the problem has been contained to avoid impacts on critical systems.

The Cyber Senate has been addressing the vulnerabilities and impacts of these intrusions across key critical infrastructure sectors for over 5 years, bringing together subject matter experts and leading infrastructure operators to gain a better understanding of how to build defences and mitigate cyber attacks.

We return November 6th and 7th in London, United Kingdom, for the 2nd annual Aviation Cyber Security Summit at the Royal Aeronautical Society, as well as our cross-sector 5th annual Industrial Control Cyber Security Summit in London October 9/10th.
